George on the left, Dave on the right.
I want this dog!! Look at that face. ^_^
This is Dakoda. Koda for short. He is my child. :D
I remember when I was debating between him and his sister, whom I named Fallon.
FYI: The sister is on the bottom, the boy is the one standing over her. lol.
EVERYONE I knew told me to get Fallon. They said the girl would be so much easier to care to and train. She’d be better behaved and a better running partner. The boy is too mellow for me, yada yada yada.
Well. I went with the boy. ^_^ ((I’m such a rebel.))
I have to say.. I made a damn good choice.
I know him in and out and he knows me just as well.
When we’re walking, he’s on my right hand side.
When we run, he’s on my left hand side.
When I start to slow down he slows with me unless I tell him to pull on, then he pulls me along faster.
I tell him to do something and he does it instantly. Not just the lame ‘sit’ ‘lay down’ and ‘shake’ commands. I tell him to go right, he’ll go right. I tell him this way and he stops in his tracks, looks for which way I’m going and trots next to me until he knows what we’re doing.
He doesn’t need a leash for he never strays more than a few feet from me.
I always, and I mean always, know where he’s at. He can not stand being away from me. I even leave his sight and he will stop at nothing to find me. (Quite funny when we’re jogging at the park and I hide behind a maze bush and he notices I’m gone. He almost has a heart attack and goes all wolf on the park grounds and does a mad hunt for me. :)
If someone approaches us when we’re out and I feel uncomfortable about them, Koda will stop in his tracks, put all his hair up, and stand guard in front of me until they pass. When they pass he walks side ways to watch them as they walk away.
He hunts. ^_^ He’s a natural born herder and fetcher of random bunnies, snakes, and birds. Quite gross, but I’m proud he knows the technicalities of hunting and how to approach his prey. Kinda cool to watch.
He doesn’t listen to anyone but ME. I managed to teach him commands in Gaelic(Irish), Sign, and English. Yet he will only listen to me.
At night, if I’m cold, he curls up next to me under the covers until he thinks I’m warm, then goes back to the foot of the bed. ^_^
Whenever he hurts me when we play or I’m upset at him (or anything for that matter) he’ll sit in front of me and pat me with his paw while nudging my cheek with his nose and licks my ear sympathetically. It’s as if he’s apologizing.
Everyone doubted him. They thought he wouldn’t be right for me and that I wouldn’t keep him. Look at him now. He is a gorgeous man dog (almost. He’ll be a year in July.) and the best part about this is that he is mine.
My newer friends have said, “You can tell, when you and Koda are together, that he respects you and he’ll protect you when he needs to. You can tell that he KNOWS you’re his mom, his ‘leader of the pack’ with the way he acts and responds to what you say and do.”
I’m damn proud of my man. :D
((This is the most lamest post I’ve done. Others will see it that way, but I love my dog so much that I think it’s the best. So suck a fat one. ^_^)
